March news

Updated: Mar 25

Easter:

We will be closed over the Easter long weekend. Toys can be returned when we are open again.

Home duties available:

You can sign up to any of these events on Setls, or speak to our toy librarian for more information.

  • Mini working bee, checking battery toys, Saturday 23rd March

  • Market stall at Yarrabah School, promoting play and the toy library, Saturday 4th May

  • Test and tag seven of our electrical items, SKILLS REQUIRED, any time during March or April.

Extending opening times:

In our Post-It Note survey last year, many members listed extending opening times as an area to improve. Committee now want your input as to which times you would like to have extended. If you haven't had the chance to answer this question in library, please answer this short survey.

New toy option for click and collect:

Search and select this image on the catalogue

Not sure what to select when booking a click and collect? Let our toy librarian choose instead. Choose this toy icon and leave the rest to Catherine. She will select up to your borrowing allowance a variety of toys based on your children's age, previous loan history and her knowledge of your children's interests (when known).

Volunteering and the child care subsidy:

Did you know that your volunteering hours at the Kingston Toy Library can contribute towards your child care subsidy's activity requirements? This means that by fulfilling your duty hours with us, you not only support our community but also contribute towards your activity hours for receiving the child care subsidy.

To understand more about the activities recognized for the child care subsidy and how they factor into determining your subsidy, you can refer to the following resources provided by Services Australia:

Recognised Activities for Child Care Subsidy: Link Here

For those interested in volunteering, you can register your duty hours through your Kingston Toy Library login. Additionally, if you have any questions or require assistance, our librarian Catherine is available to provide more information on all of the ways you can volunteer (in the library and at home) during your next visit.

We encourage all members to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to our community while fulfilling your child care subsidy requirements.
