A morning of free play can do a lot. It can help children try something new, give families time to connect, and show just how much fun is waiting on the shelves at the toy library.

To celebrate Children’s Week 2026, the toy library is opening its doors for a special family-friendly Open Day on Saturday 24 October, from 10 am to 12 pm. Everyone is invited to come along, explore the space, enjoy free activities, and see how a toy library membership can make play easier, more affordable, and more exciting all year round.

There will be face painting, family play activities, a musical entertainer, membership specials, and plenty of toys to discover. Whether it is your first visit or you already know the joy of borrowing instead of buying, this is a relaxed morning designed for children, parents, carers, grandparents, and local families.

Children can browse, choose, and discover toys that match their interests.

Children’s Week is a time to recognise children, their rights, their voices, and the importance of safe, supportive spaces where they can learn and grow. Play is a big part of that. With this year's theme Children have the right to use their own language, celebrate their culture and practise their religion.

What to expect when you arrive
